Pantone Color of the Year 2016

The Pantone Color of the Year for 2016 has been chosen and it looks like this year there’s a tie. Rose Quartz and Serenity have both been chosen as Color of the Year. According to Pantone this is the first time that a blend of two shades has been chosen as the color of the year.

I can’t help but think of a gender reveal party when I first see these two colors together, but the more I see them, the more I like Pantone’s choice. Pastels are traditionally viewed as more Spring-like shades however I think there are several easy ways to incorporate these colors into our lives all year round. Pantone also offers a listing of Rose Quartz and Serenity color pairings to help you out!

Rose Quartz & Serenity in Beauty

Makeup is an easy way to incorporate both Rose Quartz and Serenity into your look. You can go for a dramatic eye look like the one I’ve pictured below or if you’re more conservative you can try testing these colors out in your nail polish shades first. If you’re feeling really ambitious, I think these shades would look great as a pastel hair color combination or if you’re thinking of adding streaks of color.

Rose Quartz & Serenity in Fashion

I think fashion is actually one of the easiest way to incorporate the 2016 Pantone Color of the Year into your life. I think the majority of people would already find that they own similar shades of clothing already. Look at that, you’re a trendsetter! If you’re not sure where to start I think handbags would be a great way to incorporate these colors into your wardrobe.

This Lily Avenue Carrigan purse by Kate Spade is so cute and perfect if you’re trying to find a handbag in Rose Quartz. I’m loving the scalloped edges also!

If Serenity is more of your color, this Cedar Street Hayden bag from Kate Spade is also a great option!

Rose Quartz & Serenity in Decor

If you aren’t willing to commit to throwing these shades on the wall (which I also wouldn’t do) you can add these colors to your decor in a variety of other ways. I think the easiest way to ease into these colors would be through the use of accent pieces. Pillows or artwork would be great ways to use this trend around your home without having them overwhelm your space.

What do you think of Pantone’s Color of The Year selections? How will you use these colors this year? Let me know what you think!
